Japanese companies Tungaloy Corporation and NTK Cutting Tools have announced plans to merge, effective January 1, 2027, subject to applicable legal and regulatory requirements. If successful, the combined organisation will operate under the Tungaloy corporate name, while the NTK Cutting Tools brand will be retained. NTK Cutting Tools will operate as a dedicated division within Tungaloy.
Plans have also been finalised for a new NTK Cutting Tools headquarters and manufacturing facility in the Nagoya area of Japan. The companies stated that the investment will increase production capacity and introduce advanced manufacturing technologies, with the site housing manufacturing, engineering, marketing and corporate functions.
The merger will combine Tungaloy’s cutting tool portfolio and grade development capabilities with NTK Cutting Tools’ ceramic cutting tool technology and miniature cutting tool lines. The companies stated that the combined organisation will offer customers and distribution partners a broader range of technologies and application expertise.
Tungaloy manufactures cutting tools and industrial solutions for sectors including automotive, aerospace, energy and general engineering. Founded in 1934, the company is part of the IMC Group.
