Metal Powder Works Limited (MPW), headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, has signed a two-year long-term agreement (LTA) with Embassy Powdered Metals Inc, Emporium, Pennsylvania, to supply pure copper powder for copper infiltration applications.

The agreement is valued at approximately USD 600,000 over its two-year term. Supply is scheduled to begin in January 2027.

Copper infiltration is used in Powder Metallurgy to increase the density, strength, and dimensional precision of press-and-sinter components.

Metal Powder Works announced its first purchase order from Embassy on August 24, 2026. The order was the company’s largest at that time and its first sale into the copper infiltration segment of the press-and-sinter (P&S) market.

The new agreement converts that initial order into a multi-year supply arrangement. Metal Powder Works stated that it also has an existing agreement covering add-mix copper applications in the P&S market.

Supply to begin ahead of capacity expansion

Supply under the agreement is scheduled to begin ahead of Metal Powder Works’ previously announced capacity expansion programme. The company stated that the Embassy agreement forms part of the contracted demand intended to be supported by additional DirectPowder capacity as it comes online.

“When we announced Embassy’s first order in August, we said it was the start of what we expected to be an ongoing relationship,” stated John Barnes, Founder and Managing Director of Metal Powder Works. “This agreement is that expectation being realised: a two-year contract, in a segment we’ve only recently entered. We are doing what we said we would do. Agreements like this are exactly the kind of demand our accelerated capacity is being built to support.”
